Samulnori - Record Of Changes



Samul nori is a traditional Korean music that combines four different percussion instruments. The four instruments represent differing weather conditions. This genre is closely tied to the traditional Korean agricultural process and was originally employed to guarantee a large harvest.


The group SamulNori have been able to bridge the gap between folk music and contemporary music. This recording was performed in 1988 at two locations. The first performance was recorded at a 150 year old church located in New York City. The second portion was recorded at the Calgary Winter Olympics of 1988.
